Exercise and Cancer
*Two Loyola University Health System female researchers will describe their
groundbreaking research about what is driving the obesity epidemic and why
there are racial disparities in cancer survival.

Outreach/Volunteer Opportunities:*

   - December 12, 2009 (8am-5pm): FIRST Robotics needs judges (you do not
   need to be an engineer to participate!)

participating in FIRST Robotics.

   - December 15, 2009 (8am-12noon): Science and Mathematics Fair judges in
   all fields needed at Lane Tech College Prep

Contact Diane Lebryk <DLLebryk at cps.edu> if you are interested in judging at
Lane Tech.

   - Save the Date: January 15, 2010 (8:30am-12:30pm) Chicago Public Schools
   Science and Mathematics Fair at Chicago State University.

Contact Jimmie Bush <jbush at csu.edu> if you want to judge the CPS Science
Fair at Chicago State University.

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology, C2ST, is presenting two
interesting seminars this December.

 Stem Cells & Nanotechnology: The Tools of Regenerative Medicine on
Wednesday December 2, 2009 at 5:30pm

Join Drs. John Kessler and Samuel Stupp of Northwestern University as they
discuss their groundbreaking research on nanotechnology and stem cell
therapies for the treatment of spinal cord injuries.  This event is free for
C2ST members, $15 for non-members on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Special Matinee Film Screening: When Crocs Ate Dinosaurs Sunday December
6th, 2009 at 2:00pm*

Presented by C2ST, National Geographic and Project Exploration.  Suggested
donation is $5.
