*Apply to be a judge at the "BioGENEius Challenges" at the 2013 BIO
convention in Chicago in April!*

This year, Chicago is the host city for the 2013 Biotechnology Industry
Organization (BIO) International Convention, and this global industry wide
convention will be held on April 22nd – 25th with an expected attendance of
over 15,000 people.  *The BioGENEius Challenges* are local, national and
international* *competitions for high school students that recognize
excellence in original research in
biotechnology<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotechnology>.
Held annually at the BIO International Convention and organized by the
Biotechnology
Institute <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotechnology_Institute>, the
Challenges are prestigious science competitions with significant cash
prizes awarded to the winners.

Distinguished panels of judges from all levels of competitions are being
coordinated by the Biotechnology Institute. Submit an application to be a
judge at one of three events: the At-Large BioGENEius Challenge, the U.S.
National BioGENEius Challenge or the International BioGENEius Challenge
judge. Please see below for a list of qualifications and time commitments.


*BioGENEius Judge Qualifications*

**1)    **Education:  Doctoral degrees in related area(s) preferred,
although Master’s degrees combined with work experience strongly considered.
****

**2)    **Professional Experience:  Five years or more with biotechnology
or related field, i.e., business and industry, academia, etc.****

**3)    **Prior experience in judging research projects, especially college
and/or high school levels****

*            Special Note:  No preparatory work or follow-up commitments
are required. *

*2013 At-Large BioGENEius Challenge – March 21st – 28th  *

            Date:               Thursday, March 21st, 2013 – Thursday,
March 28th, 2013****

                                    Orientation Session TBD****

            Place:              via conference call

Judges are provided with a PDF packet that includes judging information and
copies of each application, which we would like you to evaluate and score.
Each application will be evaluated by a minimum of three judges independent
from each other. RSVP’s required in advance.****

*2013 US National BioGENEius Challenge – April 20*

            Date:               Saturday, April 20, 2013****

                                    7:00 am – 6:00 pm -- Orientation
Session begins promptly at 7:00 am****

            Place:              Hilton Chicago****

            Other:              Parking and meals included

Judges are provided with two complimentary tickets to the U.S. National
Awards Reception and Banquet dinner on April 21st, from 5-8pm.  In
addition, Judges will receive one full complimentary registration to the
BIO Convention (April 22-25, 2013).  RSVP’s required in advance.****

*2013 International BioGENEius Challenge – April 22*****

            Date:               Monday, April 22, 2013****

                                    9:00 am – 5:00 pm -- Orientation
Session begins promptly at 9:00 am****

            Place:              McCormick Place Convention Center, Chicago,
IL****

            Other:              Lunch included

Judges are invited to the International BioGENEius Awards Ceremony to be
held during BIO’s Keynote Luncheon on Tuesday, April 23rd.  Seating is not
reserved.  One full complimentary registration to the BIO Convention (April
22-25) will be available. ****
