*CALL FOR NOMINATIONS - AWIS CHICAGO BOARD *

AWIS Chicago will be electing a new board this fall! Interested in being a
board member, which will be a great experience for acquiring leadership
experience and building your network? Send your nominations to info at awis
-chicago.org with the following information:

1. Name and place/position where you work
2. Board position that you are applying for
3. A 3-4 sentence write-up on your background and why you are applying for
this position. This information will be included in the ballots during the
online elections

*DEADLINE: August 1st, 2016*

The description of all executive board member positions are as follows:

**President*: Coordinates the business of the chapter, presides at all
chapter and executive board meetings, represents AWIS Chicago at national
meetings, responds to queries from outside parties, creates online event
registration information (3 hours/month)

*VP for Finance*:  Manages the accounting of the chapter's budget, handles
revenues and disbursements (3 hours/month)

*VP for Membership*:  Manages the AWIS Chicago membership list and
recruitment/retention of members, handles event registration (3 hours/month)

*VPs for Communications (2)*:  Record the activities of the chapter,
provides minutes of Board meetings, updates the website, publicizes
meetings and events through the e-mail listserve and social media sites
(Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter), coordinates volunteer staff writers for the
Scientist-of-the-Month series (4 hours/month for each VP)

*VPs for Outreach (up to 2)*: Coordinates youth service and outreach
activities for the chapter (2 hours/month)

*Newsletter Editor*: Prepares and publishes the AWIS Chicago biannual
newsletter (3 hours/month)

*Head, Industry Liaison committee*: Coordinates with industry
representatives in the Chicagoland area regarding co-sponsoring AWIS
Chicago events, sponsorship, job postings, etc. (3 hours/month)

Common responsibilities:

- Attending Board meetings via teleconference (1 hour/month)

Other responsibilities:

- Attending Chapter events (~1 per month from Sept/Oct to May/June),
typically none during summer
- Ad hoc responsibilities during event planning

Term length: 2 years, with exceptions allowed due to individual situations

*President can only be a previous Board member
