On Saturday, April 6th, 2013, AWIS Chicago conducted a workshop led by Prof. Rick McGee of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine on mentorship. Dr. McGee has been involved with mentoring young scientists for over 30 years, and now leads faculty development for research-oriented faculty. This interactive workshop covered topics ranging from starting and maintaining relationships to aligning expectations and communicating effectively. The workshop information was relevant and applicable for people in any position in industry, academia, or other careers. In addition, there was plenty of time to explore different mentoring relationship scenarios and answer questions.
