Brief introduction of mentors

Introduction of keynote speaker

Keynote speaker: Ann Schlenker, Director for Transportation Research,
Argonne

*10:20-11:45 AM – Speed mentoring rotations*

Mentees split into groups

*5-7 groups, 1 mentor and up to 4 mentees per group, TBD based on
participants*

*Mentor-to-mentee Q&A (5-10 minutes) with brief introductions*

Mentors open by introducing themselves, followed by quick mentee
introductions.

Mentors can ask any questions they may have about the new generation
workforce.

*Mentee-to-mentor Q&A (5-10 minutes)*

Leaders start by making a statement about a topic suggested below for
stimulating conversation (choose any one topic per rotation). Topics can
include the following:

- How does your institution provide support for mentorship between
different career levels?

- Are there any ways that institutions could further help to establish a
more active mentoring climate (creating networking resources, groups, etc)?

- What advice do you have on the number of mentors one should have and the
appropriate amount of contact to maintain with them?

- How has mentorship helped you advance your career?

- Where are some good resources for finding and selecting mentors, and how
can you identify an appropriate mentor?

- How does one effectively communicate and align expectations in a
mentorship relationship?

Mentees rotate to different tables

*Rotating: A session moderator will keep time and allow time for groups to
transition, by asking mentees to get up and change tables. This is to
ensure that everyone gets to talk to all the mentors with different topics
each time. Length of time for each rotation depends on the number of
participants.*

*11:45 AM-12:45 PM – Closing: lunch with additional networking*
